If you are a snowbird and leave your home for long periods of time in the winter, consider lowering the blinds (even if there are no privacy issues), especially the windows on the south side. Even though the Seattle area doesn't get a lot of sun in the winter, there is enough sun that over time it can still fade your hardwood floors.
